ALL OF THESE PICTURES were taken on an iPhone over a 10 month period mostly in Melbourne. There are approximately 180 pics here except for maybe 8 from New York, using a standard digital Sony camera. Since the iPhone 3GS can only take quality photos close up and with adequate light, this has been the main challenge. The other challenge is to take a single shot, to get that one shot right. Opposed to what most professional photographers do, which is the scatter gun approach and then choose the best image from many after the shoot is complete.
Most of these images have already been posted on Face Book, usually with an inscription to incite public comment. It was a personal desire of mine to see them all on the one page as an ensemble. Over time I will be adding inscriptions to each image. Some of these inscriptions will merely explain the ‘where and how’, but with others I intend to write a creative commentary or a fictional story. To read these inscriptions you will need to click on the titled thumbnails above. Enjoy and if you wish to make a comment please cite the title of the image you are referring to.
Thank You.

Richis mum had a big fight with the man in the toy shop one xmas, about the prices and the range on the extensive range that mum/santa had to find. After the fight mum had to go back to the shop- she’d won a competition, 100th customer or some such nonsense, and won a giant bear! A gritted teeth smile photo for the paper, and mum was on her way home with Barry the Brown bear. Except the family was emigrating to England that day, and Barry simply had to come too, the children clamoured for Barry to come , and he got his own seat! (this was in the olden days when airlines treated customers like the lucky few they were.
Nowadays Barry mostly lives in Mount Waverly, his see through eyelids scare the children, and they won’t sleep with him in the room. Once a year uncle Trevor straps Barry to the back of his motorbike when he goes on the Xmas charity toy run. When this snap was taken Barry was eagerly anticipating some wrestling action with Steve Irwin down at F.A.R. studio open day.
Thanks Richie for your most excellent comment. Its amazing how big brown creatures, stuffed toys, humans or otherwise have names like Barry, Brian or Bob. Must the BBBB of it. I’m amazed you got Barry on the plane and he had his own seat! Those were the days when international flight was still glamorous, there was free aftershave in the toilet, and James Bond was played by Sean Connery or at pinch, god love him, that ham, Rodger Moore.
